The Reef Afghan is a fun and easy project! With a one row repeat and simple stitches, you can work this blanket up in no time. And best of all, it creates a lighter weight blanket that is perfect for cooler temperatures.

You can turn this pattern into any size blanket that you need from a baby lovey all the way up to a California King! All you need to do is change the foundation chain. You will need a multiple of seven chains to start and then you would add 6 extra chains to that number.
For the length, since this is an easy one row repeat, you would simply add or subtract rows, finishing on any number of rows you wish.
The only stitches you need to know are the single crochet and double crochet. You can even change the border if you don’t like the one that I have chosen. Pinterest has a ton of border and edging ideas.
If you follow the pattern given here for the example blanket, your finished product will measure 68” Length x 46¾” Width and that is including the border that adds 1 3/4″ to all sides.
Okay, let’s get started, shall we?

Yes, you can! All you would need to do is determine how wide you want your stripes to be. Since you are repeating one row of the pattern, you can make the stripes as many rows as you wish! For example: For a nice wide stripe you could work 6 rows of one color and 6 rows of another color and so on. For thin rows, you could crochet 3 rows of one color and 3 rows of another color. The choice is yours! I hope this helps. Thanks for commenting!
Can I make this beauty in a 2 color stripe combo?
